At the Singapore Air Show today, Cirrus Managing Director Mr. Peter Freed announced the launch of the Part Task Trainer (PTT) form of the Air Combat Officer Training System (ACOTS) which is set to enter operational service with the RAAF 1 Flying Training School (1FTS, East Sale).

The PTT uniquely focuses on training for Front Right Hand Seat (FRHS) aviators, including naval Aviation Warfare Officers (AvWO’s) and RAAF Air Combat Officers (ACO’s).

The PTT provides FRHS avionics for cockpit scan and checklist training, flight management system (FMS) emulation for navigation training and “out-the-window” imagery to support visual navigation training. The PTT integrates to a fully functional ACOTS suite to provide tactical scenario simulation training for over land and maritime roles.

Mr Freed stated that "The combination of COTS hardware with Cirrus’ ACOTS software suite enables the ACOTS PTT to uniquely deliver training for the FRHS position. Cirrus’ team is very pleased to have completed development on schedule, on budget and to our client’s high expectation, and we are particularly pleased with the close cooperation we have enjoyed with TASPO and 1FTS over the course of the project.”
