Cirrus’ Managing Director, Mr. Peter Freed has today announced that the company has secured an additional Defence contract award for the support of the Generic COMCEN System (GCS) simulation training system. Under the award, Cirrus is engaged to provide expanded engineering services in support of the GCS which since 2018 has been in operational use at the Defence Force School of Signals Maritime Communications and Information Systems Wing (MCISW) at HMAS Cerberus (VIC).

The GCS provides a synthetic environment within which Navy's Communications and Information Systems (CIS) personnel learn to operate the communications and networking equipment within a modern naval Communications Centre (COMCEN), with the interactions of the equipment types with each other and the physical environment simulated to enable the creation of end to end communications circuits and tactical networks. GCS allows instructors to easily reconfigure the system to represent the COMCEN's of different vessels, and incorporates an Integrated Learning Management System (ILMS) which manages training data and simplifies administrative functions, freeing instructors to focus on knowledge transfer.

Mr Freed stated "Cirrus is pleased to continue our close working relationship with DFSS MCISW in supporting the GCS system, with the new arrangement providing for an expanded level of software development services supporting the ongoing evolution of this system".

Mr. Freed further stated, "Cirrus is also pleased that its support arrangement for the Tactical Electronic Warfare (TACEW) system has been further expanded, following a recent contract variation reflecting the recent installation of additional TACEW training seats at HMAS Watson."

The Cirrus TACEW is a world leading EW training system which has been in operational use at HMAS Watson since 2019. Since that time Cirrus has been received multiple awards both to expand the TACEW system at HMAS Watson,  and to provide additional TACEW Systems for both surface fleet and submarine training at HMAS Stirling (WA).
