Cirrus Managing Director Mr. Peter Freed has announced that Cirrus has been contracted by DMO Training Aircraft Systems Program Office (TASPO), to supply and support its Air Combat Officer Training System (ACO-TS) to the RAAF School of Air Warfare (SAW, East Sale). The contract includes supply of licenses, installation, help-desk, software support and other associated services required to support Air Combat Officer simulation training on SAW’s fleet of Airborne Navigational Trainer’s (ANT) and Synthetic Navigational Trainers (SNT).

The Cirrus ACO-TS is based on Cirrus’ Simulation Training Network and Sensor Simulation Engine (STN & SSE) technologies, which (between June 2010-December 2010) have been customised to meet the RAAF’s requirements under a previous contract with RPDE.

Mr Freed stated that "We are very pleased to have been contracted to supply our ACO-TS system and to support the RAAF’s simulation training of Air Combat Officers. This awarding of this contract recognises the readiness of Cirrus’ sensor simulation technology to support ADF training and highlights the very real technical capabilities available within Australia’s indigenous high technology SME sector.”

Mr Freed further stated that “The technical complexity of sensor simulation systems normally leads to development activities in this area being considered high risk. The initial RPDE prototyping contract allowed the extant technical risks to be rapidly mitigated, and has enabled the supply of the capability within a very short time frame.”
